Personal Cloud Backup (Drive Backup) — main Phase 1 feature, one-time unlock
Personal Cloud Backup is part of the main POS-008 Backup & Restore feature set. A merchant who wants safer backup without a recurring subscription can unlock this path with a one-time, store-managed purchase (also called Drive Backup).
- Android and iOS: Google Drive using the merchant’s own Google account/storage (not iCloud; not Lakuyo-hosted storage)
- macOS and Windows: same Google Drive backup contract as mobile clients
- Indicative unlock price: ≈ Rp100.000 once (non-consumable; exact Play/App Store price may be set per store listing)
- No Lakuyo backend account is required — the relationship is
user ↔ Google - Backs up local SQLite data and product images (plus related payload defined by POS-008)
- Storage quota follows the merchant’s Google Drive plan; Lakuyo does not impose a separate cloud size cap
- Includes Back Up Now, restore, and automatic backup enabled by default after Google Drive authorization
- The merchant can turn automatic backup off
- Manual local backup / restore remains available even without this purchase
- The paid path is backup / disaster recovery, not multi-device synchronization
Commercial intent: free users stay happy on local-only POS, Lakuyo earns a one-time unlock fee, and backend cost for free-tier backup stays zero.
The one-time purchase entitlement is platform/store scoped. Android ownership is restored through Google Play; iOS through the App Store; macOS through the Mac App Store; Windows through the Microsoft Store. Cross-platform purchase portability is not promised without a future Lakuyo identity service. Backup storage itself is Google Drive on all clients so a merchant using the same Google account can restore across platforms.
The unlock screen must expose Restore Purchase in addition to purchase. Lakuyo should also query store ownership automatically when practical. Restore Purchase restores the one-time feature entitlement, not the merchant’s business backup data.
POS-008 must not define the backup contract as merely copying a raw SQLite file. The backup format must be versioned and restorable across supported schema migrations, and Android/iOS must share the same Google Drive backup contract.
Pro subscription — cloud-enhanced
Unlocked via subscription (Google Play Billing / App Store / Mac App Store / Microsoft Store):

Subscription billing is store-managed so Lakuyo does not need to operate card payments for its own SaaS fee early.
When Pro ends
Returning from Pro to Free must not damage or confiscate merchant-owned backup data:
- Core local POS + Inventory continues as Free
- Lakuyo-operated sync/cloud services stop according to Pro entitlement rules
- Existing Google Drive backup files are not deleted
- Restoring an existing Personal Cloud Backup remains available for disaster recovery
- If the merchant previously bought the one-time Personal Cloud Backup unlock, that lifetime entitlement remains owned and can be recovered with Restore Purchase
- If the merchant never bought the one-time unlock, Pro expiry does not grant it permanently; creating new Personal Cloud Backups and automatic Personal Cloud Backup become locked until the merchant buys the one-time unlock or renews Pro

Personal Cloud Backup is not Cloud Sync. Restoring a backup onto another device creates a replacement/copy workflow; there is no supported merge of independently changed local databases.
Single-device operation and backup ownership
Free and Personal Cloud Backup are designed for one active operational device, not coordinated multi-device use. Lakuyo should not add backend DRM solely to enforce this. Instead, POS-008 must protect data integrity through backup lineage and a single active cloud-backup writer:
- Backups carry lineage metadata such as backup/merchant identity, source installation, revision, created time, and schema/format version
- Restoring on another installation requires explicit confirmation that the new installation will become the active Personal Cloud Backup device
- Cloud metadata records the active backup installation using the user’s own provider storage
- The previous installation may continue to work locally, but its Personal Cloud Backup writes are stopped until ownership is explicitly reclaimed
- This prevents two devices from silently overwriting one backup lineage while still supporting legitimate phone replacement
A merchant can technically move a database manually between devices, but that is not supported multi-device operation and does not provide safe concurrent merge/synchronization. Pro remains the supported path for multiple active devices.
Merchant payment options (customer → merchant)
These are how the buyer pays the merchant, separate from Lakuyo purchases/subscriptions:

Do not require ≈ Rp200k/mo PSP fees for small warung. Own acquiring platform is deferred (licensing).
Monetisation principles
- Free users must be able to operate core POS + Inventory indefinitely on one active operational device without Lakuyo infrastructure.
- Free usage must not create backend cost (no free-tier cloud storage of transactions/products/stock).
- POS-008 is a main Phase 1 feature: manual local backup / restore is free, while Personal Cloud Backup / Drive Backup is unlocked with a one-time purchase (≈ Rp100.000 indicative) because the merchant supplies Google Drive storage; Lakuyo backend cost for free-tier backup stays zero.
- Active Pro includes Personal Cloud Backup, but temporary Pro membership does not create a lifetime one-time-purchase entitlement.
- Subscription gates Lakuyo-operated cloud and coordinated multi-device value, not the ability to manage stock or complete a Sale.
- A one-time purchase pays for a durable app capability; a recurring subscription pays for ongoing Lakuyo-operated services.
- Entitlements are defined in Product/Plans and Entitlements. Subscription enforcement remains covered by POS-010 subscription.
- Prefer Play/App Store billing UX over custom billing until scale demands otherwise.
Competitive context (31 Aug 2026)
Early-access feedback referenced paper.id (free core + gateway transaction fees; basic accounting; resto-first) and Moka (subscription + fees). Lakuyo differentiates on:
- Offline-first free core — no Lakuyo backend required for single-device POS + Inventory.
- Manual settlement first — cash, EDC, static QRIS without mandatory PSP signup.
- App monetisation — one-time Personal Cloud Backup unlock and Pro subscription, not gateway-fee dependency in Phase 1.
Optional integrated PSP (Phase 3, POS-015) may later offer gateway-linked revenue for merchants who opt in — similar to paper.id / Doku SME — without forcing fees on warung using manual paths. Detail: Product/Competitive Landscape.
